Tamara - On Friday Agausian President Simon Aioviḱara departed from Mogzûri International Airport enroute to the Moldovan capital of Chișinău, to begin his four-day tour through Eastern Europe. Over the weekend Aioviḱara made visits to Moldova, Romania and Hungary. On Monday the President made an unannounced visit to the Ukranian capital of Kyiv.
Aioviḱara's surprise visit coincided with that of Moldovan President Maia Sandu. Unlike Sandu, Aioviḱara did not tour the towns of Bucha and Irpin, nor did he hold a joint press briefing. The three leaders met briefly, pledge their support for regional security, and promised to work closer together in the future. While Zelensky touted the shared border, values, and aspirations between Ukraine and Moldova but stopped short of extending the same to Agausia: notably due to the differing views of EU membership.
During the President's visit to Romania and Hungry over the weekend Aioviḱara met with his respective counterparts. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Aioviḱara signed an agreement, that was made in late April, which will increase the amount of coal Hungary imports from Agausia. While in Romania the two presidents agreed to work more closely together to ensure freedom of passage in the Black Sea.
