Tamara - As the summer tourism season rapidly approaches, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Regional Development, Tourism, and Local Economies, in collaboration with local businesses, have initiated preparations for what they hope will be a thriving tourist season. In Agausia, the summer tourist season typically spans from mid-April to August, reaching its peak between June and August.
Recent regional instability surrounding Transnistria and the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine casts a looming shadow over the optimism for the approaching tourist season. Marâm Čikovani, owner of the Blue Lounge (Lurži Lûnži) hotel since 2001, expressed concern to Tamara Ǵes, stating, “We cannot afford to stay open through another slow season.” Despite Ṕagot́i's attractions such as museums, restaurants, and beaches, Čikovani fears that a poor season may force her to shut down or sell the family-owned establishment.
The government is pinning its hopes on a combination of networking, advertising, and new legislation to enhance Agausia’s reputation as a premier vacation destination. Agausia’s state-owned airlines have collaborated with government bodies to lower ticket prices and intensify promotional efforts. Since assuming office in 2017, President Simon Aioviḱara has directed all ambassadors to prioritize cultural promotion and education initiatives in hopes of boosting tourism.
A positive sign emerges from a ski resort nestled in the Lečûm mountains, situated in Agausia's central Tsënt́ri Region. Sandro Žanžapili, the manager at Ramishi Ski and Spa Resort near the village of Omasarâ, reported that reservations for several weeks at the end of March are completely booked. "This is something we haven't witnessed in years. Hopefully, it signifies that people recognize Agausia for the safe and stunning destination it truly is."
