Agausian Orthodox Churches deliver bilingual Easter services in honor of Ukraine

Odssa - In a heartwarming gesture of solidarity and empathy, Agausian Orthodox churches across the country delivered Easter services in both the Agausian and Ukrainian language. This move was made in honor of the Ukrainian soldiers who died in the Russian invasion and as a tribute to the large number of Ukrainians who fled to Agausia in the wake of the war.

The decision was taken after consultations with the leaders of the Ukrainian community in Agausia. The Ukrainian language is widely spoken in Agausia, and the move was seen as a way to acknowledge and honor the sacrifices made by the Ukrainian people.

The churches were adorned with colorful Easter decorations and were filled with worshippers, both Agausians and Ukrainians. The services were conducted in both languages, with hymns sung in both languages. The congregants were visibly moved by the gesture of unity and support, with many expressing their appreciation for the effort made by the churches.

The conflict in Ukraine has been ongoing since 2014, with thousands of lives lost and many more displaced from their homes. The Agausian government has been supportive of the Ukrainian people, offering aid and asylum to those who fled the conflict.

However, Russian Orthodox churches in Agausia did not follow the same approach. In addition, some religious leaders in Russia criticized the move made by the Agausian Orthodox Church, seeing it as an act of political provocation. 

 

They argued that the Church should remain neutral in political conflicts and focus on its religious mission. Nonetheless, the gesture made by the Agausian Orthodox Church was widely appreciated by those who saw it as a symbol of solidarity and hope.

Es nabiži gaḱetda Rusetis šemosevis dros daǵuṕé Ûḱraineli žarisḱatsëebis ṕat́ivsatsëmad da rogortsëâ karḱi im Ûḱrainelebis didi natsëlistvis, romlebitsëâ omis šemdeg agûzâši gaiktsënen.
