Opposition sponsors bill to reduce resort and hotel tax rates

 Author: St́epanâ Šurigini

Tamara - Speaking on the floor of parliament opposition MP, T́et́âna Ḱozaḱi (AL), introduced her bill that would reduce that tax that hotels and resorts have to pay. In her address Ḱozaḱi stated that if the measure was adopted hotels and resorts all over Agausia would be able to ultimately lower their prices, which would positively impact the countries' tourism sector.

Ḱozaḱi, who authored the bill, comes from Ûbani 6 of the Slavuri Region. The region, which includes the southern resort town of Čagvra, has seen a steady decrease in the number of annual tourists - a similar trend has been seen around the country.

The bill does appear to have multipartisan support, but it is not clear if there are enough votes to pass. Opponents of the bill, including Lumir Dvoršaḱi (GA), call the bill "premature given the current regional climate, and would not guarantee a rise in tourism."
