Tamara - In an unceremonious manner, the Agausian parliament confirmed Âḱob Belani as the ninth prime minister of Agausia, along with his cabinet, last Tuesday. The final vote was 77 in favor and 68 against. The confirmation of the new Agausian government hopefully marks the end of a months-long political crisis brought on by the president, who aimed to salvage his party’s reputation in the polls through an unprecedented government reshuffle.

The new Agausian government, led by Prime Minister Âḱob Belani of the Social Democrats (SD), features Zaza Ḱipaini (SD) as Deputy Prime Minister. Key ministry appointments include Mikeil Ḱonst́ant́ines (SD) as Minister of Finance, Mišḱo Ermolai (SD) as Minister of Defence, and Maksim Ṕanosi (SD) as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration. The Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, and Development is headed by Simon Samtsëkože (PMK), while Zurab Iličovi (SD) leads the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Regional Development, Tourism, and Local Economies. Marina Temirovi-Aiseli (GA) serves as Minister of Justice, and Anat́oli Soplisiže (PMK) oversees the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, and Food Policy. The Ministry of Health, Social, and Labor Protections is managed by Âgënḱa T́arṕini (PMK), and Boris Alizade (SD) is in charge of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Sports. Finally, T́arël Arslanovi (AS) leads the Ministry of Public Administration and Information.

Belani, who most recently served as the Agausian ambassador to Greece, is set to assume a leadership role amidst growing discord and internal conflicts within the ruling coalition. His administration will face challenges such as a struggling healthcare system, an economy at a standstill, and numerous international hurdles like the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Israel-Gaza conflict.

After the conformation Belani made no speech to parliament, and only stopped briefly to speak to the press. In his statements he assured the Agausian people that his government would prioritize national unity and work tirelessly to address the pressing issues facing the country. "Our nation stands at a crossroads," Belani remarked, "and it is imperative that we come together, setting aside our differences for the greater good of Agausia. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am confident that with determination and cooperation, we can overcome these challenges."

The new PM highlighted his commitment to reviving the economy, emphasizing the need for innovative policies to stimulate growth and attract foreign investment. He also stressed the importance of healthcare reforms, promising to increase funding and improve access to medical services for all Agausians.

The new cabinet members echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, each outlining their primary goals for their respective ministries. Zaza Ḱipaini, the Deputy Prime Minister, assured that the administration would take a holistic approach to governance, ensuring that all sectors would, work in synergy for the nation’s progress.
