Tamara - On Monday Nazar Ignat́ovi, chief justice of the Agausian Constitutional Court, and Zurab Iličovi, Minister of Internal Affairs certified the results of Saturday’s regional elections. At stake was four hundred three seats in positions across regional government including governors, mayors, and regional councilors.

The outcomes of Saturday's elections, combined with the previous year's local election results, have solidified the opposition's popularity among Agausian voters and foreshadow more challenges for the ruling coalition under the leadership of the Social Democrats.

The Social Democrats emerged as the primary loser of the election night. Although they retained the mayor's position in the capital Tamara, they lost Romda in the Tsënt́ri region – the second largest city of Agausia – along with the regional governorship to the primary opposition, the Agausian Liberals.

Overall, the Agausian Liberal Party emerged as the overall winner, increasing its influence across all three levels of government. Their vote share rose from 23.5% in 2022 to 26.8% in 2024, resulting in a net gain of 11 positions in regional councils, and similar gains in governorships and mayoral offices. The Social Democratic Party faced significant setbacks, with their vote share dropping from 33.7% to 22.9%, leading to a loss of 36 positions in regional councils and a decline in governorships and mayoral control.

The Democratic League of Agausia made a strong debut, capturing 8.7% of the vote and securing 29 positions, primarily in regional councils, while also gaining ground in mayoral and governance roles. Other parties like the Progressive Democratic Party, New Socialists, and Conservative Party of Agausia also made modest gains, whereas the Farmer's and Green's Union, United Alliance, and several minor parties saw declines.

Overall, the election marked a shift in power, with the Agausian Liberal Party solidifying its position as the dominant political force across the nation.
