Regional instability has wider effect on Agausian students

Tamara - As the Agausian school year draws closer to an end regional instability, caused by the war in Ukraine, has left some students questioning their educational futures. Reports from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Sports have indicated that, on average, one in every twenty Agausian students will study abroad during their lifetimes. 

Most of those students who study in another country travel to Russia. With the war in Ukraine stretching into its third month the fate of students who planned to study abroad in Russia and Ukraine is unclear. Sixteen-year-old Ḱrist́oper Sapkvavi, who is taking his Unified National Examinations during the last week of May, had hoped to enroll to university in Moscow but the war has him considering other options.  

 

Agausia's education system has faced harsh criticisms over the years. An international report published in 2018 was quoted as saying, "lack of funds and little opportunities post-graduation has created an apathetic school environment." Those factors all contribute to an increasing number of students seeking education outside of the country.
