Make no mistake we are not blind...we will defend ourselves: Says Defence Minister

Tamara - One day after an incident between the Agausian and Russian navy Agausia's Minister of Defence has stern words for Russia. On Friday commander of the Agausian Navy Captain Niḱlûs Tsëlaḱat́i reported that a Russian vessel intercepted a small Agausian fleet and demanded that the Agausians turn back or else.

"The Agausian fleet was sailing into the Mediterranean to complete training exercises with Turkey, when a Russian Federation warship intercepted the fleet and threated them to return home or else. Despite the threat our ships diverted course further south and continued their voyage into the Mediterranean with the final destination being Antalya Gulf." Wrote Captain Tsëlaḱat́i in his official report on Friday. 

In the Ministry of Defence's official response Minister Dumit́ru Ṕet́ranâ spoke directly to his Russian counterpart and delivered a stern message. "Make no mistake we are not blind to the realities around us. We are a sovereign nation who shall remain neutral, so long as we are not pushed in any particular direction. Agausia will always seek peace, but if threated we will defend ourselves." 

This statement by the minister represents the harshest rebuke of Russian aggression since independence. It also demonstrates a historical shift in Agauisa's attitude towards neutrality, which is enshrined in the nation's constitution. Without specifically stating it specifically the minister's words seem to hint at a changing attitude towards NATO membership.
