Protesters force Aioviḱara to flee event

Sanapiro - Presidential incumbent Simon Aioviḱara (SD) was attending a fundraiser in the village of Sanapiro, when a group of six protesters interrupted and forced Aioviḱara's security team to evacuate the president for his own safety. "The president was quickly taken away from the event and from any threat." Reported Aleksandre Dačerili, Aioviḱara's chief of security. 

The six men entered the event with eggs, empty glass bottles, and megaphones. Four of the men began to throw eggs and bottles at Aioviḱara while he was onstage, while the other two began to shout and disrupt the president using their megaphones, "Agausians deserve better!" One shouted. "The Social Democrats are destroying our country!" Shouted the other. 

Aioviḱara faces a tough election in August as he and his main opponent, Niḱolâ Kasrâni (AL), sits virtually tied in opinion polls. Agausia is facing a stagflation crisis, the position for finance minister is still officially empty, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine stretches into its fourth month. All of these factors have led some to question the Social Democrats ability to lead the nation.
