Parliament signals change in National Board of Trustees

Tamara - Amid rising inflation, and growing discontent with the current government, the parliament signaled that it might be ready to make some changes to the current board of trustees at the National Bank of Agausia (NBA).

On Tuesday Mëlo Pačulâ (SD), ranking MP on the Legal committee for appointments and immunities, made remarks suggesting that the committee would be willing to consider nominees for the board. And while securing the 73 votes necessary to remove a board member may be easy, receiving the same simple majority to confirm a new nominee might not be as simple. 

 

A spokesman for the President of the NBA, Roman Demuri, had this to say regarding the rumors and Pačulâ's comments, "The National Bank of Agausia, and its board, is doing everything in their power to remedy the economy and combat inflation. Unfortunately the current regional situation, and a turbulent last few years have made some obstacles difficult to overcome. A sudden shift in policy now would be reckless." 

However, some in government and most of the opposition have criticized the NBA's handling of the economy, and the current rise in prices have strengthen the calls for change.
