Former MP criticizes party and leadership

Mšbuḱâ - Former Member of Parliament Žon Mesâtsëâ (SD), who lost his re-election bid last November, has released a scathing critique of his own party in a new political memoir. Mesâtsëâ represented Ǵrubeli Region's fifth district for nearly a decade but lost his election narrowly to his New Socialist opponent Dimit́ri Marksoviḱi. 

In the memo, Mesâtsëâ accuses Social Democratic party leadership of prioritizing fundraising and special interests over the needs of the Agausian people. He writes that he saw firsthand how party leaders would bully and intimidate members who dared to speak out against the party line, and how they would turn a blind eye to unethical behavior if it meant advancing their political agenda.

The former MP also takes aim at his fellow politicians, saying that many of them are more concerned with their own careers and personal gain than they are with serving the public. He writes that the toxic culture of politics makes it difficult for politicians to do what is right, even when they know it is the right thing to do.

The memo has already sparked a heated response from party leaders, who have accused Mesâtsëâ of being a disgruntled ex-politician looking to gain publicity and settle scores. But the lifelong politician has defended his criticisms, saying that he is speaking out in hopes of inspiring others to push for change and to hold their elected officials accountable.

"I may have lost my election, but I haven't lost my conviction that we can do better as a nation," Mesâtsëâ said in a recent interview. "I published this memo to shed light on the problems that I saw in politics, and to encourage others to speak out and demand better from their leaders." Despite the criticism of his own party Mesâtsëâ has stated that he will remain in the Social Democratic Party and hopes that his words inspire the party to change.
