Passenger ferry sinks after fire breaks out onboard

Totsëâ - A passenger ferry carrying fifty-three people sank today after a fire broke out on the ship. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning. The passengers were quickly evacuated by the crew and local rescue teams.

According to authorities, all passengers were safely rescued, and no injuries have been reported. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Regional Development, Tourism and Local Economies announced that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Passengers reported feeling a strong smell of smoke and seeing flames on the deck before the crew announced the evacuation. The ferry, which was en route from the village of Totsëâ to the nearby town of Čagvra, quickly filled with smoke and passengers rushed to the deck to escape.

The fire was put out by the local fire department and the passengers were taken to their destination. A backup ferry was issued while the other was investigated and repaired. 

Agausian authorities are no strangers to boating and other infrastructure incidents. Ministry officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and the safety procedures followed by the crew. They will also assess the damage to the ship and determine if it can be salvaged.
