Government's approval sinks to five year low

Author: Mišeli Žažaniže

Tamara - Agausian President Simon Aioviḱara and his coalition government have received a severe blow in the form of a record-low approval rating. In fact, Prime Minister Ermolai's cabinet currently holds the lowest approval rating of any cabinet in the past five years.

When the coalition government was announced in January, it received a lukewarm response from both political analysts and the Agausian public. Since then, both the executive and legislative branches have been sluggish in implementing any significant changes.

In March, reports emerged that many ministers within the cabinet were unable to cooperate and, in some instances, even refused to be in the same room with certain colleagues. Then, in April, the coalition government in parliament repeatedly failed to pass the annual budget.

In response to the opposition's united stance on a budget proposal that ultimately failed, Aioviḱara threatened to dissolve parliament if they couldn't reach a compromise and pass a much-needed budget. On May 10th, the parliament, heeding the president's threat, approved a budget.

Adding to the government's tarnished reputation are two ongoing scandals plaguing the health ministry. One involves missing pensions, while the other concerns the closure of a health facility in a small Agausian commune.

Sources close to the prime minister indicate that Ermolai may be contemplating demanding the resignation of Minister Ḱurani (AS).

All these factors have not been well received by the average Agausian voter. With prices skyrocketing and the war in Ukraine continuing, voters will express their true sentiments in November when regional councilors and district administrators are elected for a two-year term.
