Zelensḱi and Aioviḱara shake hands in Moldova

Tamara - Agausia's President Simon Aioviḱara, on Thursday, participated in the Second European Political Community Summit which was hosted by Moldova, according to the Presidential Administration. 

 

The opening ceremony of the second European Political Community Summit is underway in a palace just outside of Chișinău (Ḱišiniovi), Moldova. The second meeting of the EPC entailed the gathering of 46 nation-states. Having been created after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the EPC first met back in October 2022.

After the welcoming ceremony, Aioviḱara told reporters his main was to restore peace and prosperity to not only the region, but to the whole of Europe, saying that "a peaceful Europe is key to Agausian success." 

During the roundtable discussion on security, co-chaired by Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Poland, participants discussed the concrete steps and efforts to be taken to ensure peace and stability in Europe, according to the Agausian government’s press office. 

Following the roundtable discussion, the Agausian President met for a working lunch with leaders of the Black Sea Region. This included the presidents of Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine, plus the Prime Minister of Georgia. In which regional security and economic cooperation were the main topics of discussion

During the lunch Aioviḱara was seated next to the Ukraine President and was reportedly engaged in robust conversations with his Ukrainian counterpart. The two also took part in a photo-op in which the mood was friendly. The two shook hands and Aioviḱara was spotted with a small Ukranian flag pined to his chest.  

The Agausian government has tried to pitch itself as being a nonpartisan player regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In January the government hosted controversial talks with Russia, in which both counited signed a statement reaffirming the commitment to maintaining a strong and effective security partnership. 

 Although recently it appears the Agausian government has taken a pro-Ukraine stance. Holding many bilateral talks with blocs which support Ukranian sovereignty. The Agausian internal affairs ministry has even refused many permits for pro-Russian protests in Agausia. 

The next meeting of the EPC is scheduled for October. Aioviḱara's office has already confirmed his planned attendance.
